The Benefits of Soy Wax for Candles
Soy Wax has many benefits over other waxes, such as paraffin wax, which is why we love to work with it. In this article, we list 3 reasons why we choose soy wax to make our candles.
Before we get into the nitty-gritty, what exactly is soy wax?
What is Soy Wax?
Soy wax is a 100% natural wax derived from the vegetable soybeans. It’s an entirely natural non-toxic product that is safe for your skin and respiratory system.
At The Candle Collection Company, all of our candles are made from soy wax, and this differentiates us from many major candle brands. A decision that we’re totally proud of.
What is Paraffin Wax?
Paraffin wax is by far the most popular material to produce candles as it’s so cheap to source. It’s sourced from the oil purification process from petroleum, oil shale, or coal. Once the waxy substance has been removed from the oil, the paraffin wax is left.
Why Choose a Soy Wax Candle?
1. A Cleaner Burn
One of the main benefits of using soy wax is that it doesn’t elease toxins, carcinogens or pollutants when burning. These can be harmful to your health, and can also trigger allergies.
Compared to paraffin wax, soy wax doesn’t release a petrol-carbon soot which can produce oily black marks on your walls.
2. Longer Lasting Candles
Soy wax has a much lower melting point compared with paraffin wax which means it burns up to 50% longer. And that means your candle will last 50% longer. It’s a win-win.
3. Sustainability
Soy wax is a renewable material produced from soybeans, and is carbon neutral. Whereas, paraffin wax is sourced from our diminishing supply of crude oil.
